How does Thermage work?

Thermage is a safe cosmetic procedure that has proven highly effective in smoothing out wrinkles, treating crepey skin, and addressing other skin laxity problems. It uses radiofrequency waves to work its magic, which means no surgery, no needles, no cutting, no anesthesia, and essentially no downtime afterward.

As a non-invasive dermatological procedure, Thermage sends thermal energy (heat) into the deep layers of the skin, which activates the body’s natural healing response. As collagen loss is at the bottom of most wrinkling issues, this treatment stimulates collagen production (similar to what you can expect from microneedling) to give the skin a youthful, resilient quality while smoothing, tightening, and firming it.

Everyone knows you can’t stop the aging process, but our patients at DermSurgery Associates of Houston know that they can certainly slow down the effects. Thermage brings these results to all skin types and tones and can be used throughout the body in just a single treatment.

What skin areas will Thermage work on?

Thermage is an ideal treatment for wrinkles and skin laxity in the areas where these problems most often show up. The procedure goes to work fast on sagging skin, laugh lines, forehead lines, Marionette lines, cellulite and other problems related to skin aging. It’s a great treatment for your:

  • Face (including eyelids and the sides of the mouth)
  • Neck
  • Buttocks
  • Arms
  • Hands
  • Abdomen
  • Legs

Does Thermage hurt?

A Thermage treatment doesn’t hurt, but you will feel some sensations. When the treatment tool contacts your skin, you’ll feel a cooling sensation and then a sensation of heat. When you feel the heat, it means that the stage is being set for collagen remodeling. During the procedure, you’ll let your provider know how you feel so that you can experience reasonable comfort while getting the maximum results.

Typically, Thermage treatments last from 90 minutes to two hours. The session length will depend on the number of areas being treated. Afterward, you won’t have to endure any restrictive downtime, so you’ll be able to get right back into your daily schedule. How long will my results last?

It’s likely you’ll see some results immediately after a single treatment, with the most dramatic results happening between 2 and 6 months after the procedure. For many patients, depending on the condition of their skin and where they are in the aging process, the skin improvement brought on by Thermage can last for years.

If wrinkles just keep showing up, get a handle on them with Thermage and restore the lovely skin you thought you’d lost. Call (713) 791-9966 to make an appointment or request a consultation to get your questions answered.
