Skin Laxity Treatment

What is Skin Laxity?

Skin laxity is a condition caused by many factors. Most times this condition is genetic, however, many other factors can evolve this condition. Factors can be both intrinsic (natural causes) or extrinsic (outside causes). These may all include aging of the skin, weight fluctuations, environmental factors such as sun exposure, smoking, poor diet and stress. Skin laxity can also account for eye puffiness and dark circles due to loss in collagen. The most common areas for laxity are around the jowls, neck, jawline, and arms. With childbirth or increased weight loss, laxity can also occur in the abdominal area. However, skin laxity can occur in any part of the body.

Treatments for skin laxity can be surgical if severe and many times non-surgical. The most common non-surgical options are radiofrequency, such as Thermage®. There is also Intensed Pulse Light (IPL). Many times IPL and radiofrequency will be coupled together for more optimal results.
