Jimmy Schmidt, MD, FAAD
A Hill Country native, Dr. Schmidt completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas in Austin. He then earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Schmidt’s post-graduate training included a rotating internship in Memphis, flight surgeon training at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, and posts as flight surgeon with the Air Force. It was during a stint in Alaska that he fell in love with dermatology. Soon after, he completed his dermatology residency back in Texas at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Schmidt has authored many articles in peer-reviewed publications and has made educating new doctors a centerpiece of his career. A clinical associate professor at both UT Medical School and Baylor College of Medicine, he has a true passion for teaching.
Dr. Schmidt’s decades of work and studies have taken him all over the world, and he has fascinating stories to share about his experiences and adventures. His office is full of photographs documenting his travels.
A proud family man, Dr. Schmidt adores his wife. They have six children and five grandchildren. He is also an avid reader and grower of vegetables. Another personal passion of Dr. Schmidt is art. He and his wife are members of many of the art groups at Houston museums which he frequents regularly. He even has a personal art collection in his office, which he loves to share with patients.
