Our commitment to our fellows begins with the highest quality education and experience in Procedural Dermatology. Aside from gaining invaluable experience in Mohs Micrographic Surgery techniques, the fellow will be exposed to experts in the field of Procedural Dermatology including the latest advances in Laser Surgery. Fellows are exposed to a wide variety and high volume of challenging cases where they work side by side with Dr. Leonard Goldberg.
After 25 years of accreditation through the
American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, we are proud to announce that the Procedural Dermatology Fellowship was accredited by the The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (
ACGME) in 2009. DermSurgery Associates is pleased to offer this fellowship in partnership with The Methodist Hospital. More than 70 training centers are recognized throughout the country as comprehensive training programs in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and 38 are accredited by the ACGME. This achievement further elevates the program’s level of quality and commitment to the education of future leaders in dermatology.

In this unique and outstanding program, Fellows have the opportunity to work closely with nationally and internationally known faculty while perfecting their skills as Dermatologic Surgeons. Upon completion of this fellowship, fellow will have achieved a broad base of knowledge and skills concerning the preoperative, operative, and postoperative care of patients requiring Mohs Surgery and other procedural dermatologic procedures. The fellow will exceed the minimal standards established by the ACGME.
This fellowship will also provide fellows with an experience in the principles and practice of dermatologic research. The overall goals of this rotation are: (1) to allow residents to make meaningful contributions to the field of dermatologic surgery, (2) to stimulate independent scientific thinking, (3) to permit residents to recognize the value of performing clinical or basic science research, and (4) to develop residents’ skills in research methodologies.
The fellow is expected to oversee a minimum of two projects of interest under the guidance of Dr. Leonard Goldberg. The fellow will present three projects locally, regionally, or nationally and submit at least two scholarly paper(s) for publication. Interested residents will be encouraged to become as academically involved as possible with special programs and identify further opportunities for dedicated research.
The fellow will participate didactic sessions with all faculty. The fellow will have the opportunity to observe and perform laser and cosmetic techniques in the Laser center. The fellow will be competent and knowledgeable in the indications and possess the technical skills to perform the following dermatologic procedures:
BOTOX® Injections; Fillers (Juvéderm, Restylane, Perlane, Collagen, Cosmoderm, Cosmoplast, Hylaform, Hylaform Plus); Fraxel® Re:Store (SR1500); Fraxel® Re:Pair; Resurfacing (CO2 laser, Erbium laser); Laser toning; (SmoothBeam™, Nd:Yag laser); Acne Laser/Light treatment (SmoothBeam™, PDT); Pigmented Lesion Removal (Q-Switched ruby laser and Nd:Yag laser); Vascular Lesion Removal (V-Beam Perfecta®, Cynergy); Photodynamic Therapy(PDT); Leg Vein Trea™ent(Lasers, Sclerotherapy); Chemical Peels; Hair Removal (Altus™ and Light Sheer Diode™) and Thermage Treatment.
In addition the time spent at DermSurgery Associates, the fellow will spend one day each week working at the
Methodist Hospital performing Mohs micrographic surgeries. Methodist Hospital is A U.S. News & World Report-ranked hospital listed as one of the
